In a spectacular display of cricket, India's national team achieved a resounding series-leveling victory against South Africa in Chennai. On a pitch where high scores had been the norm, the visitors collapsed under pressure, setting the stage for an easy chase by the Indian openers. The match was defined by Pooja Vastrakar's outstanding bowling performance, supported ably by Radha Yadav, which dismantled South Africa's batting lineup. Despite South Africa's promising performances in previous matches, they could only muster 84 runs, which India chased down effortlessly. South Africa was bowled out for a mere 84, conceding the match to India by 10 wickets. Pooja Vastrakar and Radha Yadav took 7 for 20 combined. India 85 for 0 (Mandhana 54*, Shafali 27*) beat South Africa 84 (Brits 20, Vastrakar 4-13) by 10 wickets.

The match began with South Africa batting first, but their innings got off to a rocky start. Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp, both known for their batting prowess, were dismissed early while trying to push the scoring rate during the powerplay. India's decision to bowl first seemed to pay off instantly. Wolvaardt's wicket fell as she attempted an aggressive shot, only to be caught out, setting the tone for the innings.
Tazmin Brits, who had been in excellent form with consecutive fifties in previous games, attempted to anchor the innings. She started positively, striking two boundaries off Shreyanka Patil in the sixth over. However, her efforts to accelerate further resulted in a misjudged shot that led to a spectacular catch by Harmanpreet Kaur at mid-off. This dismissal left South Africa struggling at 45 for 3 in 7.4 overs, with the pressure mounting.

Following the Brits' departure, the situation deteriorated in South Africa. Chloe Tryon survived an early scare when Deepti Sharma missed a return catch, but her stay at the crease was short-lived. In the next over, Tryon faced a close lbw shout from Arundhati Reddy but was saved by the angle of the delivery. Reddy, however, won the battle a few overs later with a short-pitched delivery that Tryon edged to point, further deepening South Africa's woes.
During this period, Vastrakar's bowling was instrumental in turning the game decisively in India's favour. In a game-changing over, Vastrakar dismissed Anneke Bosch with a delivery that cut back in sharply, trapping her lbw. This wicket came right after Bosch had hit a boundary, showcasing Vastrakar's ability to bounce back immediately. Two balls later, Vastrakar sent Nadine de Klerk back to the pavilion with a fuller-length delivery that de Klerk could only chop onto her stumps. These two wickets reduced South Africa to 61 for 5 in the 11th over, and their innings never recovered.
South Africa's collapse continued, losing 7 wickets for 23 runs to be all out for 84 in the 18th over. Radha Yadav's contribution was equally significant, with her double-wicket maiden in the 17th over hastening South Africa's end. Yadav's figures of 3 for 6 from her three overs underscored her effectiveness and further crippled the South African batting lineup.

India's chase of the modest target was a formality, thanks to a commanding performance from their openers. Smriti Mandhana, in particular, played a stunning innings. Her elegant and aggressive batting set the tone from the very first over, where she struck two boundaries off Ayabonga Khaka. Mandhana's fluent stroke play continued, demonstrating her mastery over both pace and spin.
There was a brief moment of uncertainty when Mandhana faced a delivery from Marizanne Kapp that hit the seam and nipped away, beating her outside edge. However, this was the only blemish in an otherwise dominant performance. Mandhana continued to dominate, hitting eight fours and two sixes, including one that brought up her fifty and sealed India's victory off the same delivery. Her authoritative innings ensured there was no pressure on the Indian chase.
At the other end, Shafali Verma provided solid support with her aggressive batting style. She showcased her prowess by pulling the seamers in front of the square and playing her trademark powerful shots. Shafali's unbeaten 27 included several eye-catching strokes, making the chase seem effortless. Together, Mandhana and Shafali made sure that India's victory was never in doubt, completing the chase in just 10.5 overs.
